Privacy and Cookies Policy

Last updated: September 13, 2026

This Privacy and Cookies Policy explains how DocLique collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our service. In this policy, "DocLique", "we", "our", and "us" refer to DocLique, and we are the controller of your personal information, except for the payment information described in Section 1, for which our payment provider is the controller.

1. Information We Collect

When you use DocLique, we collect the following types of information:

  • Account information — when you create an account, we collect the information you give us, such as your email address and your plan type. If you sign in through a third-party service, we receive limited information from that account, such as your name, email address, and profile picture.
  • Your files and content — the files you upload, the messages and prompts you send, and the documents we generate for you. Section 3 explains how this content is handled.
  • Payment information — when you buy a subscription or credits, your payment is handled by our payment provider, which acts as the merchant of record for the purchase. This means your order is placed with the provider rather than with us, and the information you give it is handled under its own terms and privacy policy. We receive limited information from it, such as your subscription status, plan, and order details, but we do not receive or store your full card details.
  • Usage and technical information — information collected automatically when you use the service, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, and usage logs, which we use to keep the service secure and reliable.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information to provide, operate, and improve DocLique, and only where we have a valid legal basis for doing so (see Section 6). Specifically, we use it:

  • To provide, maintain, and improve DocLique.
  • To process your requests and generate the documents you ask for.
  • To create and manage your account, and to handle your subscription and credits.
  • To respond to your support inquiries.
  • To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents, and to protect the service and our users.
  • To understand how the service is used so we can improve it, using aggregated or non-identifying information where possible.
  • To comply with our legal obligations and to enforce our Terms and Conditions.

3. Your Files and Content

Files you upload are processed to generate output. We do not sell your content, and we do not use it to train models.

Producing documents requires AI models. We do not train or fine-tune any models ourselves — we call our providers' APIs. Your content is sent to those third-party model providers, who process it to generate your output.

DocLique is not designed to process sensitive information, and we do not ask you for it. Please don't upload content revealing racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade-union membership, health, sex life or sexual orientation, genetic or biometric data, or precise geolocation; content about criminal convictions or offences; or personal information about anyone under 18.

If you would rather not have your content sent to a third-party model provider, please don't upload it. For how long we keep your files, see Section 4.

4. How We Store and Retain Your Data

Files you upload and documents we generate are stored on our servers so that you can reach them from your account, and you can delete them at any time. We keep each type of information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, except where noted below:

  • Files and documents — on the Free plan, files you upload and documents we generate for you are deleted automatically 7 days after they are added to your account. Upgrading to a paid plan does not extend this window. On paid plans, they are kept until you delete them; if your plan ends or you cancel, we keep them for a further 7 days and then delete them, so you have time to download anything you still need. If you delete your account, your files and documents are deleted as well, normally within a few minutes.
  • Account information — kept for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we take it out of use: you can no longer sign in, and we no longer use it to provide the service. We keep the deleted account entry — your account identifier, the email address, and the credits it held — for 90 days. We keep it so that we can audit the deletion, prevent fraud and abuse, and make sure the same email address cannot be used to create a new account during that time. After those 90 days we delete the entry, and the address can be used again. We keep it for longer only where the law requires it.
  • Technical and usage logs, including your IP address — kept for as long as your account is active, and for a limited period afterwards where we need them for security and troubleshooting, after which they are deleted or aggregated into anonymized statistics.
  • Payment records — the billing information we receive from our payment provider, such as your subscription status and order details, is kept for as long as we are required to keep tax and accounting records.
  • Support communications — kept for as long as we need them to handle your inquiry and any follow-up, and deleted if you ask us to.
  • Deletion — when you delete a file or document, it is removed from our active storage and you can no longer reach it from your account. We do not keep separate backup copies of your files.
  • Copies on your device — if you have consented, some information is also kept in your browser's local storage so that the studio can restore your work: your session list and the names of the files in it, your conversation history, and the session context data our service uses to continue a session. They are removed when you delete the session, when you delete your account, when you withdraw your consent, or when you clear your browser's storage for DocLique. Deleting files and documents from your account does not remove these local copies. A few things are always kept in your browser because the service cannot work without them: your sign-in token, a cached copy of your account information, and your cookie choice. These do not depend on your consent, and clearing your browser's storage for DocLique removes them as well and signs you out.
  • Temporary processing copies — while we generate a document, temporary copies of the content involved are held on our processing servers so that the work can be completed. They are deleted automatically within about 3 hours after the session ends, and we do not use them for any other purpose.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it with the service providers who help us operate DocLique. Those providers may only access the information they need to deliver their service, they are required to keep it confidential, and they are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

The providers we use include AI model providers, which generate the documents you request from the content you submit; cloud hosting and infrastructure providers; email delivery providers, which send you service and account emails; and a sign-in provider, if you choose to sign in through a third-party account. Our payment provider is different — it handles your payment details and sells subscriptions and credits to you directly as the merchant of record, as explained in Section 1. Section 3 explains what happens when your content is sent to AI model providers.

We may also disclose information when we are required to do so by law. We may aggregate or de-identify information so that it can no longer be used to identify you, and use it to understand how the service is used and to improve it. We keep such information in anonymized form and do not attempt to re-identify it.

6. Legal Bases for Processing

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we must have a legal basis under data protection law to process your personal information. We rely on the following, depending on what the processing is for:

  • Performance of a contract — creating and managing your account, processing the files you upload, generating and delivering the documents you request, and handling your subscription and credits.
  • Legitimate interests — keeping the service secure and reliable, detecting and preventing abuse and fraud, diagnosing problems, understanding how the service is used so we can improve it, and enforcing our Terms and Conditions. We balance these interests against your rights, and you can object to this processing — see "Your Privacy Rights" below.
  • Legal obligations — keeping payment and tax records where the law requires it, and responding to lawful requests from authorities.
  • Vital interests — protecting your vital interests or those of another person, for example where someone's safety is at risk.
  • Consent — where we ask for your permission for a specific purpose, such as storing information in your browser as described in Section 10. You can withdraw your consent at any time; this does not affect processing carried out before you withdrew it.

7. International Data Transfers

DocLique is a global service, and our service providers are located in different countries. Your personal information may be transferred to and processed in a country other than the one you live in. Some of those countries do not provide the same level of data protection as the country you live in.

You keep the rights described in Section 9 even when your information is transferred internationally.

8. Data Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If a breach of security ever puts your personal information at risk, we will tell you and the relevant authorities without undue delay, and we will explain what happened and what we are doing about it.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live and which law applies, you may have some or all of the rights below over your personal information. They are not absolute — they apply only in specific circumstances, and exercising some of them may mean you can no longer use parts of the service.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will not discriminate against you for exercising them. We may ask you to verify your identity first, so that we do not disclose your information to someone else, and we will respond within the time limit set by applicable law.

  • Access — ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and for information about how and why we process it.
  • Portability — receive the personal information you gave us in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, and ask us to transmit it to another provider where technically feasible. This applies where the processing is based on your consent or on a contract with you, and is carried out automatically.
  • Rectification — ask us to correct personal information that is inaccurate, or to complete it if it is incomplete.
  • Erasure — ask us to delete your personal information where we no longer need it for the purpose we collected it for, or where you have withdrawn your consent and there is no other lawful reason for us to keep it. This does not affect information stored in your browser — see Section 10 for how to clear it.
  • Restriction — ask us to restrict how we use your personal information in certain circumstances, for example while we are checking whether it is accurate.
  • Objection — object to processing we carry out on the basis of our legitimate interests.
  • Withdraw consent — withdraw your consent at any time where we process your information on the basis of consent. For the information described in Section 10, use the Cookie settings link. This does not affect processing we carried out before you withdrew it.
  • Automated decisions — not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing, including profiling, that has legal effects on you or similarly significantly affects you.
  • Complaint — lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in the country where you live.

10. Cookies and Other Similar Technologies

We use essential cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and to protect your account. We do not use cookies for advertising, and we do not use them to track you across other websites.

Some information is always stored in your browser because the service cannot work without it: a sign-in token, a cached copy of your account information, and your cookie choice, so that we do not ask you again. If you agree, we also keep your session list and the names of the files in it, your conversation history — including the prompts you send and the output we generate — and the session context data our service uses to continue a session, so that the studio can restore your work. We ask for your choice the first time you use DocLique, and you can change it at any time from the Cookie settings link in our footer or in your account menu. If you decline, your conversation history is not saved in your browser, and anything already stored there is deleted. Because we do not keep conversation records in your account either, it will not be available once you close or reload the page. Information stored with your consent stays on your device until you delete the session, withdraw your consent, or clear your browser's storage for DocLique, and clearing it will sign you out and remove your local session history. Our payment provider may also set cookies when you complete a purchase.

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" or opt-out preference signal. Our service is not designed to respond to those signals.

11. Third Party Services

When you choose to sign in through a third-party account, your browser leaves DocLique and opens that provider's own sign-in page. That page is operated by the provider, not by us, and the provider's own terms and privacy policy apply to it. We encourage you to read them.

When you buy a subscription or credits, the purchase is made with our payment provider, which acts as the merchant of record for it. Its own terms and privacy policy apply to that purchase, and we encourage you to read them.

12. Children's Privacy

DocLique is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

If we learn that someone under 18 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly. If you are a parent or guardian and believe this has happened, contact us at [email protected] and we will take appropriate action.

13. Changes to This Privacy and Cookies Policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the service, or applicable law. We recommend that you review this page periodically.

If we make a material change to how we handle your personal information, we will email you before it takes effect. Other changes take effect as soon as they are posted on this page. The "Last updated" date shown at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. By continuing to use DocLique after a change takes effect, you agree to the updated policy. Where a change affects processing that is based on your consent, we will ask for your consent again rather than relying on your continued use.
